About
I'm Rakesh — DJ RKay. I DJ private events across the Greater Seattle area and the Eastside, and the whole point of my sets is simple: nobody sits down. Seattle crowds are mixed. One table wants Bollywood, the next wants a Telugu mass banger, the aunties want 90s retro, the cousins want EDM, and someone always wants that one Tamil track at 11pm. I build the night so all of that lands without the floor ever emptying out.
That means Hindi and Bollywood into Punjabi, Telugu and Tamil mass into Malayalam and Kannada, then straight into English EDM, house, hip-hop and Top 40 when the room is ready for it — mixed live, not queued off a playlist. I bring the sound, the mics and the lights, I MC the announcements if you need it, and I take your must-play list seriously.
Weddings and receptions, sangeets and mehndis, anniversaries, birthday parties, engagement parties, graduation parties, house parties and rooftop parties — from a 20-person backyard in Sammamish to a full reception ballroom in Bellevue or Seattle.
The Sound
Every set is built for the crowd in front of me. These are the lanes I move between all night.
Current chartbusters, wedding anthems and 90s–2000s retro. Romantic slow sections for couples, then straight back up.
Full-volume Tollywood mass beats, folk and item numbers — the ones that get the whole floor doing the step.
Kollywood mass, kuthu and gaana. Anirudh, Yuvan, ARR — built to peak, not to background.
Mollywood hits, Malayalam dance numbers and the crossover tracks that pull the Kerala crowd straight in.
Sandalwood bangers and Kannada folk — the section most DJs in Seattle skip, and the one that always surprises the room.
Bhangra, desi hip-hop and Punjabi pop — the reliable reset button when the floor needs a jolt.
Big-room, progressive and festival EDM, tech house and remixes — late-night energy for the crowd that stays.
Throwbacks, current radio, Afrobeats and party hip-hop for the mixed and non-desi guests.
Mixed-language wedding? That's the normal request here, not the exception. Tell me the split — Telugu-Tamil, Hindi-Punjabi, South Indian and American guests — and I'll structure the night around it.
Events
If people are dancing, I'll do it. These are the events I'm booked for most across Seattle and the Eastside.
Baraat, mehndi, haldi, sangeet and reception. Entrance cues, first dance, cultural segments and full MC support — coordinated with your planner or venue.
Ballroom or banquet hall setups sized to the room, with a clean transition from dinner ambience into a packed dance floor.
25th, 50th, or the first one — a set that works for parents, kids and grandparents in the same room. Retro-heavy on request.
Kids' birthdays, sweet 16s, 21sts and milestone 40/50/60s. Clean edits for family events, full-energy for the late crowd.
Compact setup that fits a living room or basement without shaking the neighbours off the block. Perfect for 20–80 guests.
Rooftop decks, terraces and apartment-building lounges in Seattle and Bellevue — sound tuned for open air and noise limits.
Summer backyard events across Sammamish, Issaquah, Redmond and Woodinville, with weather-safe gear placement.
Holiday parties, team offsites, product launches and Diwali celebrations at tech campuses across the Eastside.
Diwali, Navratri Garba & Dandiya, Holi, Onam, Ugadi, Pongal, Baisakhi and New Year's Eve — for families, associations and community orgs.
Grad parties, student association nights and campus events around UW, Bellevue College and the Eastside.
Lighter, daytime-friendly sets with games, announcements and a short dance block at the end.
Bollywood and desi club nights, bar takeovers and promoter events around the Greater Seattle area.
What's Included
Powered tops and subwoofer scaled to your room and guest count — enough for a ballroom, restrained enough for a living room.
For speeches, toasts, games, cultural segments and announcements. Handheld mics available for the family.
Moving heads, wash lighting and effects to turn any hall, garage or rooftop into a proper floor after dark.
Grand entrance, cake cutting, speeches and cue-driven segments announced on mic — in English or Hindi.
Must-play list, do-not-play list, entry song, first dance and family favourites collected before the date.
Requests taken on the night — worked into the set where they'll actually hit, not dropped mid-peak.
Load-in times, power, noise curfews and planner timelines handled ahead of the event so nothing stalls on the day.
Early arrival, soundcheck before guests, and a clean teardown after — included in the booking window.
Venue already has house sound? Happy to run DJ-only and plug into their system — that keeps the package cheaper.

Where I Play
Based on the Eastside, booked all over Western Washington. If your venue is within about an hour of Bellevue there's no travel fee — anything further, just ask.

FAQ
Send a DM on Instagram @djrkayy or fill in the form below. Include your date, city or venue, event type, rough guest count and the languages you want — that's everything I need to quote you.
It depends on hours, guest count, venue size and whether you need sound and lighting or just a DJ on the house system. House parties are the lightest package; multi-event weddings are the largest. Send me the details and you'll get an exact number, not a range.
Weddings: 6–12 months, especially for summer Saturdays on the Eastside. Birthdays, anniversaries and house parties: 2–6 weeks is usually fine. Diwali, Navratri and New Year's Eve fill up early every year.
Yes — speakers, subwoofer, wireless mics and dance-floor lighting, sized to your venue. If the venue has house sound, I can run DJ-only and plug in, which brings the price down.
Absolutely, and please do. Must-plays, do-not-plays, entry song, first dance, cultural segments — send them across before the date and I'll build the night around them.
That's the majority of what I do in Seattle. Tell me the split and I'll structure the set so every group gets their block without the floor emptying between them.
Yes — grand entrance, cake cutting, speeches, games and cultural segments, in English or Hindi. If you have a planner or coordinator, I work off their timeline.
Regularly. I run a compact setup for living rooms, basements, backyards, rooftop decks and apartment lounges — tuned for the space, and mindful of building noise limits and curfews.
